Hi, my name is Madi.
I’m seeking six $1,000 sponsors to help fund a six-month, part-time role with the Katie Adamson Conservation Fund to kickstart my conservation career.
I’ll dedicate approximately 10 hours each week to developing conservation projects, building partnerships, pursuing funding, strengthening organizational systems, and creating new ways for people to get involved.$1,000 sponsors approximately one month of conservation capacity.
What Does Your Donation Do?
Each $1,000 sponsor helps fund approximately one month of my part-time work with KACF.

Why Me?
Quick Facts
-
I’m a scientist at heart. I have a B.S. in Biological Sciences with a minor in Psychology from Arizona State University.

Colorado is home. I was born and raised in Monument, and I’ve spent most of my life exploring the Colorado outdoors.

Conservation has been part of my life for years. I spent more than 10 years at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and have been involved with the Katie Adamson Conservation Fund for the past 8 years.

I’m passionate about making the most of life. Growing up with chronic Lyme disease shaped how I think about health, resilience, and getting outside. I’m incredibly grateful for the life I’m able to live today and the opportunity to see and experience more of the world.

I’m happiest outside. Hiking, backpacking, exploring somewhere new, or pretty much anything that gets me outdoors is where you’ll find me in my free time.

I’m also a lizard mom. I share my home with several very spoiled reptiles.
Where am I headed
I’ve spent years working as an animal caretaker at a zoo, and while I’m incredibly grateful for that experience, I’ve realized that it isn’t where my long-term purpose lies. For the past eight years, I’ve spent my free time immersed in conservation work, and I’m realizing that it’s time to make that passion the foundation of my career.

In ten years, I see myself leading meaningful wildlife conservation and humanitarian programs for nonprofits. I’m flexible about the path that gets me there, but I’m not flexible about the impact I want to make. I want a career that matters, and I’m ready to start building it.
My Personal Mission
To understand the human story behind conservation and make meaningful action accessible to more people.

I believe people want to be involved. They want to learn, contribute, and create change. Often, they just need the right tools, knowledge, and opportunities to know where to start.
​
My mission is to help provide those tools, connect people to meaningful opportunities, and make conservation something more people can understand, participate in, and help shape.
KACF has been a huge part of my conservation journey.
​
Over the years, I’ve gone from participating in projects as a 14-year-old to leading trips, coordinating projects, working with partners, and getting more involved behind the scenes.
​
Now I want to take the next step:
​
Not just participating in conservation, but helping build it.
​
I’m also at a transition point in my career, moving beyond zookeeping and into broader conservation work. It can be challenging to find paid conservation roles at this stage, especially when part of what I’m looking to do is create and shape the role itself rather than step into an established position.
That’s where this opportunity comes in. By funding this six-month role, sponsors would give me the dedicated time to build these skills while putting my experience toward an organization I already know, trust, and care about. At the same time, KACF gains additional capacity to develop projects, build partnerships, pursue funding, and strengthen the systems that support its work.
